Springfield School is a special school for pupils aged 3–16 with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) or Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) as their primary special educational need. Many of our pupils also have additional needs, including physical difficulties, sensory impairments, speech and language difficulties, and social communication needs.
All pupils at Springfield School have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) which details their individual needs. We place the child at the heart of everything we do, ensuring that provision is personalised, inclusive and meaningful.
Our curriculum is purposeful, engaging, exciting and aspirational, designed to build knowledge, develop skills and promote independence. Pupils are broadly grouped by Key Stage and by learning pathway, according to their primary area of need.
The curriculum is structured across four learning pathways:
● Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
● Pre-formal
● Semi-formal
● Emerging formal
These pathways are carefully designed to be inclusive and adaptable, ensuring that every pupil can access all areas of learning in ways that are appropriate, relevant and ambitious.
A key element of our curriculum is the Preparing for Adulthood Framework, which equips pupils with the essential skills they need to lead lives that are as independent, fulfilling and meaningful as possible.
Please note that Springfield School is unable to comment on the likelihood of a child being offered a place or on eligibility for placement. Decisions regarding placement are made by the Local Authority.
If you would like Springfield School to be considered as an educational placement for your child, please speak to your EHCP Casework Officer and ask them to make a formal consultation request.
Consultation requests should be sent to: consultations@springfieldwitney.co.uk
Consultations from Local Authorities other than Oxfordshire County Council must also be copied (CC) to Oxfordshire’s EHCP Casework Team: sennorthteam@oxfordshire.gov.uk
School visits are offered to parents at various stages throughout the school year. Due to the specialist nature of our provision, school visits are offered to families whose child has an EHCP and whose needs broadly align with our school criteria. To find out more about upcoming tours or to book a place, please contact the school reception: office@springfieldwitney.co.uk
